The rent is due on the first day of every month. If we don’t receive your payment by midnight on the fifth day of the month, there is a $25.00 late fee, and you may receive a termination notice. If your payment is returned by the bank for non-sufficient funds, you will also be assessed a $25.00 fee. If you have any questions regarding rent payment, please contact your property manager.

The Gary Housing Authority (GHA) has implemented Rent Café, a software that will promote improved communication with our residents and increase efficiency. Residents can access Rent Café @ www.portal.garyhousing.org.

On RENT Café residents can make secure rent payments, view balances, and contact property management from the convenience of their home.

RENT Café is Mandatory for all residents and applicants.

The Gary Housing Authority (GHA) Staff have worked diligently with our residents to make sure that they have a full understanding of RENT Café. It is in the best interest of all GHA residents to familiarize themselves with the program. GHA implemented RENT Café in 2021. RENT Café became mandatory effective 4/1/2022. Money orders or personal checks will ONLY be accepted in the management offices under special circumstances and at the discretion of management. Not registering for RENT Café is a violation of the lease.

RENT Café provides the following payment options:

  1. Setup Auto Pay -

money is pulled directly from your bank account or debit card on a specific date of your choice.

  1. One-Time Payments -

Login to your RENT Café account and make a payment monthly.

  1. WIPS (Walk-In Payment System)

you will receive a WIPS number and bar code from the property manager, to take into a center (For Example CVS Pharmacy) and make cash payments.
